Divisions

WSSH Divisions offer a place for any level rider to compete.

DIVISIONS OF ELIGIBILITY
Riders can compete in multiple divisions and classes.

Debbi2

Adrienne

Non-Pro eligibility is required for this division. Exhibitors may show in the Open Division without losing their non-pro eligibility.

Kristin

LIMITED OPEN & NON-PRO

Competitors in this division ride the modified version of the working cow horse class, which excludes the turn down the fence and circling/roping maneuvers.

Dawn

GREEN HORSE

Rider: Any level of eligibility may ride in this division.

Horse: This division has a two year limitation and starts from the date of the first year shown in any ASHA competition.

Horses eligible for this division have never won three All-Around or Reserve All-Around titles, or has not won a year-end Champion or Reserve Champion title in ASHA or any similar associations.

Horses eligible for this division have not earned more than five points in any breed association (AQHA, APHA...) or more than $100 in a national organization (NCHA, NRHA,...)

WSSH splits this division into 1) Open and 2) Non-Pro and offers awards for each. When the results are submitted to ASHA the points are combined into the one division of Green Horse.

The rider must choose one Division to compete in.

Breanne

NOVICE

This division is reserved for riders who wish to learn more about showing at a beginners pace.

Riders must have limited riding and showing experience in any of the four classes provided by ASHA.

A riders eligibility can be assessed in a clinic offered at the event.

Through the ASHA Show Format, once a Novice has earned a combination of three Champion or Reserve Champion or Year-End Champion or Reserve Champion All-Around Titles, then the rider will move up the next year to the Limited Open, Limited NP, Green Horse, Non-Pro, or Open Division.

In the Stock Horse Trail Class, Novices will not see the log drag.

In the Working Cow Horse Class, Novice riders will ride the short dry work pattern prior to working the cow and then call for their cow and box only for one minute.

Stallions are prohibited in this Division.

WSSH splits this division into 1) Novice and 2) Novice Rookie.  Hi Point and class awards are offered for each division. When the results are submitted to ASHA the points are combined into the one division of Novice.

The rider must choose one Division to compete in.

Novice Rookie = first two years showing with WSSH
Novice = meets the eligibility requirements of ASHA

Novice Rookie riders that win a Hi Point All Around will move up to Novice at the next show.

Amaya

In the working cow horse class, Youth riders will ride the short dry work pattern prior to working the cow and then call for their cow and box only for one minute.

A Youth may not show in both the Youth and Novice Divisions at the same show.

SCORING SYSTEM

ASHA scoring is designed to be positive and straight forward, always encouraging growth and improvement.

The rules give a horse credit for what they accomplish, rather than a disqualification with no score.

Horse and riders progress is tested through competition and positive feedback from the score sheets and scoring system.

Points will be awarded to each horse competing.
